A Call For Contributions
To sift through thousands of books, articles, and websites for stories about Stalin is a daunting task. I will do my best to update the site frequently. However, I envision this as a collective effort and hope that other interested people will submit their own stories that they heard or came across. These contributions will be invaluable for the success and thoroughness of the site.
Therefore, if you have your own stories, or stories from your family, please type them up and send them to me, and please detail who told you the story/where you heard the story, what country/region/city the story was told in, when you/they first heard the story (approximately), and other details that may be relevant. And remember - your submissions will be completely anonymous. (However, if you prefer your real name to be used, just let me know and I will attribute it to you)
I encourage you to speak to your parents, and more specifically your grandparents, especially if you grew up in the Soviet Union or in a communist country, and ask them to tell you what they think about Stalin, and what stories, jokes, myths, etc, they remember from when they were growing up.
If you are reading a novel, memoir, travelogue, or non-fiction account of some social issue, and you come across a character or individual who relates a story about Stalin, please make note of it and submit it. Please be as specific as possible and make detailed notes of where you found the material.
